Proofing a Print – “Roses”

 During my recent visit to the David Gentleman exhibition I was particularly struck by his insights on the proofing process - he describes it as “alarming” as you can never know what the final result of your print will be until you just give it a try. Creating prints starts with a rough sketch, in my case a version of that is incised into a vinyl plate – then I start to work out what the final color combination will be. The final print is always very different from the original color comp. My latest print is called “Roses.”
