St Ives

Every year we decamp to Cornwall for family holidays.  We make our base in St Ives but always visit other favourite places;  these include Gwithian, Penzance, Newlyn and Marazion.  We spend lots of time on the beaches of West Penwith because, even on a drizzly and grey day, the Atlantic Ocean is the most vibrant shade of blue.
Many of the sketches in my visual diaries have been produced over the years during these trips, when we are in one place for a short time like a beach or a garden.  There is so much art that has been created in that part of Cornwall and this inspiration, combined with the quality of the light, makes it a perfect place for me to draw.
