Tove Jansson

Found this beautiful set of Puffin books today by Finnish artist Tove Jansson a creative hero of mine. As a child in the 1970's I probably watched far too much television and was an avid viewer of Jackanory. http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/series/9264. I was first introduced to the magic of Moominland then. It was
1970 and "Moominland Midwinter". Later on as an adult strangely a visit to Norway unearthed a treasure trove of animations and picture books I had never seen. Everything is so quirky and I just love the use of strong graphic line and sense of colour and pattern in the drawn designs. The characters reflect all sorts of shape hierarchies and personality traits. One of my favourite characters is Little My , I can relate to her stature and eyebrows!
